Starters Grant Shaeffer, Ryan Boll and Jordan Burich combined for 54 points and 23 rebounds as visiting St. Thomas scored a 74-65 MIAC men's basketball win Saturday at St. John's.
The Tommies (14-4 overall, 10-3 MIAC) have won 10 of their last 11 games. They outscored the Johnnies 43-33 in the second half and had only two turnovers in the last 20 minutes.
UST and Bethel remain tied for the conference lead with seven games to go, with the Johnnies now 1 1-2 games behind. The Tommies and Bethel play Monday night on the UST campus.
Shaeffer and Boll scored 19 and 18 points, respectively. Burich had his third career double double with 17 points and a career-best 15 rebounds.
Freshman Tommy Anderson came off the bench to score a collegiate-best nine points for UST.
