Baruch Falls in High-Scoring Contest to Staten Island

The Baruch College Bearcats suffered an 87-82 home loss to the Dolphins from the College of Staten Island in a CUNYAC home contest on Wednesday night in the ARC Arena.

The Bearcats shot 52 percent (12-for-23) in a low-scoring first half to build a 33-29 halftime lead.

The second half proved to be a different story as the two teams exploded offensively.

Staten Island's Frank Schettino scored 26 points (8-for-9) and his team as a whole shot 68 percent (17-for-25) in the second half to secure the win and stay undefeated in conference play at 11-0.


Bryler Paigescored a career-high 27 points for the Bearcats, which included 17 points in the high-scoring second half.

Chimaechi Ekekeugbornotched his 11th double-double of the season with 24 points and 11 rebounds.

Schettino finished with 33 points, six assists and two steals.

The Bearcats will continue their CUNYAC schedule on Saturday, January 29, with a 3 p.m. home contest against CCNY.
