Saints Drop Road Contest at Saint Vincent

(LATROBE, Pa.) – Thomas More College fell to Saint Vincent College, 64-58, tonight (Wednesday, January 18, 2017) 64-58 in a battle for first place in the Presidents Athletic Conference (PAC). Thomas More is now 11-5 overall and 7-2 in the PAC.

The Saints kept it close all night, but just fell short when the final buzzer went off. The Saints, who trailed by nine points at halftime came out quickly in the second half and tied the game with 14:38 left in the half. After going back and forth for the heart of the second half Thomas More took a three-point lead with 10:40 to go in the game when sophomore guard Ryne Callahan (Morehead, Ky./Rowan County) made a three-pointer to make it 49-46 in favor of the Saints. After more back and forth in the final minutes of the second half the Saints came up just short to the Bearcats.

The Saints had eight players reach the scoring column and were led by junior center Simon Clifford (Louisville, Ky./ DuPontManual), who finished with a game-high 18 points. The Saints had one other player reach double-figures and had multiple knocking on the door of double-digits. Junior forward Austin Young (Campbellsville, Ky./Henry County) finished the game with 10 points. Players that knocked on the door of double-digits were sophomore center Junior Stockwell (Florence, Ky./Boone County), who finished with eight, sophomore guard Damion King (Winchester, Ky./George Rodger Clark), who finished with seven and senior guardSawyer Pauly (Crescent Springs, Ky./Covington Catholic), who finished with six.

The Bearcats of Saint Vincent also had eight players reach the scoring column tonight and were led by Tom Kromka with 16 points. Other scorers to reach double-digits were Austin Ford with 12, Austin Dedert with 10 and Mike Simmons with 10.

The Saints begin the second half of the PAC schedule on Saturday (November 21) when they travel to Grove City, Pennsylvania to play Grove City College at 3 p.m.
