ASTON, Pa. – The No. 17 Neumann University men's basketball defeated Centenary University, 95-56, on Saturday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.
Billy Cassidy hit eight three-pointers en route to his game-high 28 points. Darian Barnes and DeShawn Lowman each notched a double-double. Barnes finished with 16 points, 11 rebounds and five assists while Lowman tallied 16 points, 10 boards and handed out six assists. Carl Wallace finished the game with 12 points and blocked three shots.
The team connected on 14 baskets from downtown and all 11 players that hit the court tallied either a point or a rebound.
The teams started out the game trading leads and baskets. With Neumann holding a 15-12 advantage, a three-pointer by Cassidy started a 21-4 run to take a 36-16 lead with 8:07 left in the half. Lowman hit a three-pointer as the final shot of the half. The Knights doubled up the Cyclones 60-30 after the first 20 minutes.
The Knights kept the pressure on during the second half as Barnes opened the half with a basket from downtown. Neumann's largest lead of the game came with 5:25 left in regulation, 90-49, on a tip-in by Tony Parker. The Knights finished out the game strong and came away with the 95-56 win.
Neumann (14-1, 8-0 CSAC) will host Rosemont on Wednesday evening in a CSAC match-up beginning at 8:00 PM.
