ALBION, Mich. – Albion College followed a familiar script Saturday, building a double digit lead in the second half only to have it evaporate in a 67-59 loss to Adrian College at Kresge Gymnasium.

Corey Wheeler scored seven points and Darius Branch hit a 3-point basket as Albion surged to a 40-30 lead with 15 minutes to play.

Albion still led by six, 44-38, midway through the second half.

Davonte Harris hit four from the line, and Keyon Rainey added two as Adrian surged to a 54-48 lead with five minutes left.

Rainey's 3-point basket with two minutes to play proved to be the dagger, giving Adrian a 61-54 lead.

Wheeler produced his third 20-point game of the season. He finished with 20, hitting on 8-of-10 shots from the field.

Branch and Aquavius Burks finished with 10 points apiece for the Britons.

Harris, the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association's leading scorer, rolled up 26 points. He received support from Justin Webster's 14 points. Rainey finished with 10.

Albion, 4-11 overall and 1-3 against MIAA rivals, plays its next two games at home. Olivet College provides the opposition for a Wednesday night contest scheduled for internet broadcast by the Briton Sports Network.
