Keuka College Falls to Wells College

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The Keuka College Men's Basketball team lost on Wednesday to Wells College by the score of 88-74 in a North Eastern Athletic Conference battle.  

The Wolves (1-9, 1-4 NEAC) remain at home this weekend hosting SUNY Poly on Saturday and SUNY Cobleskill on Sunday.

Sophomore Trevor Powell (Manassas, Va. / Osbourn) continued his hot play, leading Keuka College with 19 points. Freshman Cameron Winston (Freeport, N.Y. / Pomfret School) scored 18 for the Wolves and Cliff Stevens (Ballston Spa, N.Y. / Ballston Spa) added 11 points. Dylan Doupe (Phoenix, N.Y. / John C. Birdlebough) finished with a game-high 10 rebounds, his second time with 10 boards this season.

Keuka College attacked Wells College early on Wednesday. A pair of free throws by Greg Tyler (Edgewater, Md. / Southern) gave the Wolves a 12-7 lead five minute in. Wells College answered to take a five-point lead of their own at 23-18 with 10:33 left in the half, but Keuka responded. A quick seven points over 48 seconds, capped win a Winston three, gave Keuka College a 25-23 advantage. Late in the half, Wells threatened to push the margin to double-figures, but Keuka College went on a 9-0 run to take the lead with less than two minutes left. Wells took the lead back. Keuka missed a last second three to tie the game, but Cliff Stevens tipped in the rebound at the buzzer to make the margin one point. Keuka College trailed Wells College 48-47 at the break.

The Wolves came out of halftime hot, scoring six straight points to take a 53-48 lead. Keuka College pushed the margin to six points, their largest lead of the game, with 15 minutes left to play. The Express continued to cut into the lead. Wells went on a 10-0 run to grow their lead. The Wolves fought to stay in the game late, but the closest they could get it was an eight point margin with 3:14 left to play. Wells College hung on for the 88-74 victory over Keuka College.
