CHICOPEE, Mass. --- The Becker College men's basketball team won 72-71 at Elms College on Tuesday night at the Picknelly Arena in Chicopee. The Hawks of Becker improve to 7-5 and 3-0 in the NECC standings while the Blazers of Elms fall to 1-10 and 1-2 against conference opponents.

With Becker clinging to a four-point lead with 43 seconds remaining in the game, Elms senior guard Symon Smith (Oklahoma City, Okla. / Star Spencer) buried two free throws to pull the Blazers to within two with 20 seconds left. Attempting to run out the clock, the Hawks committed a critical turnover with 13 seconds remaining, giving Elms the ball back as Smith buried the go-ahead three-pointer with nine seconds left, 71-70. Becker head coach Brian Gorman called timeout to draw up a play. With the game on the line, Becker sophomore guard Kareem Davis (Lowell, Mass. / St. John's) found junior forward Samuel Durodola (Rosedale, N.Y. / Campus Magnet) for the layup with just two seconds remaining, and it would prove the game-winner as Smith's buzzer-beating three-pointer was off.

Becker freshman guard Antonio White Jr. (Middletown, Conn. / Middletown) had his best game of the season, scoring a career-high 24 points and pulling down a career-high 17 boards. White shot 10 of 12 from the free throw line. Durodola finished with nine points, 11 rebounds and two blocks. Senior guard Kyle Credle (Queens, N.Y. / Benjamin N. Cardozo) had 18 points, five rebounds and a team-high four assists. Davis added 14 points.

Smith led the Blazers with a game-high 32 points.

Becker will put their first place standing on the line on Thursday when they play host to Regis College in a 7:30 p.m. game. Elms hosts Lesley University on Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
