NEW YORK -- The Delpeche twins tallied double-doubles and the Bates men's basketball team played outstanding defense on their way to a 69-40 victory over the Framingham State Rams Friday Night at the NYU Men's Basketball Classic.

The 40 points given up by the Bobcats (8-3) on Friday are the fewest they have given up in one game since a 78-40 win over the University of New England on December 4, 2012.

Senior Malcolm Delpeche (Wilmington, Del.) led all scorers with a career-high 23 points on 11 of 20 shooting. He also pulled down 11 rebounds and blocked five shots to increase his Bates career-record for blocked shots to 139. Meanwhile his twin brother, senior Marcus Delpeche (Wilmington, Del.), chipped in 11 points on four of seven shooting and 11 rebounds.

Both Delpeche twins earned a spot on the NYU Holiday "All-Classic" Team thanks to their terrific performances in the Bobcats' wins over Farmingdale State and Framingham State. 

The Bobcats shot 48.3 percent from the field and held the Rams (3-9) to only 32 percent shooting. Meanwhile Bates out-rebounded Framingham State 43-24.

Bates never trailed on the evening. With the game tied at two, Malcolm Delpeche hit a jumper to give the Bobcats the lead for good with 19:19 left in the first half.

The Bobcats jumped out to a 12-4 lead with the Delpeche twins accounting for every basket along the way.

First-year Nick Gilpin (Hampden, Maine) and junior Justin Zukowski (Portland, Maine) got in on the act with buckets to put Bates up 16-4 with 10:13 remaining in the first half. Gilpin finished with five points and five assists while Zukowski tallied eight points. 

The Rams cut the lead to six with 5:13 to go in the half but Bates responded with a Malcolm Delpeche tip in. 

The Bobcats took a 34-20 lead into the locker room at halftime.

The second half saw Bates unleash their deep bench, with sophomore Eli Frater (Brooklyn, N.Y.) leading the way. Frater scored a career-high eight points on Friday, all of them coming during the second half of action. He also dished out five assists and tallied a game-high three steals on the evening.

Up 43-31 with 13:26 to go in the game, Bates proceeded to go on a 19-0 run to put the contest well out of reach. Frater's three with 4:44 to go in the contest put the Bobcats up 62-31.

The Bobcats are back in action Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. when they visit Brandeis.
