The Baruch College Bearcats won with defense and a balanced scoring attack Friday night in a CUNYAC home matchup against the Cougars of Medgar Evers College by the score of 95-66.
With the win, the Bearcats are now second in the CUNYAC standings with a 3-0 conference record, and a solid 7-2 record overall.
The Bearcats shot well from the field and were able to keep the Cougars below 40 percent, all while getting major contributions (31 points) from off the bench. Seven players scored in double figures, compared to only two for the visitors.
Doyin Isaac led the way for the Bearcats, scoring 20 points along with five rebounds and five assists. Chimaechi Ekekeugbor struggled with his shot, but made up for it with eleven points and nine rebounds.
Alex Mattina made great use of his playing time with 12 points in only 16 minutes. William Sixsmith had 13 points and three assists.
The Bearcats had three other players reach 10 points tonight; George Smyth, Jr., Bryler Paige, and Dwayne Brydie in what was a great showing of team basketball.
Maurice Swaby II put up a great effort for visiting Medgar Evers, leading all scorers with 22 points along with five steals, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Cougar's shooting struggles.
Earlier this evening, the athletic department honored Chimaechi Ekekeugbor for scoring his 1,000th career point by presenting him with a milestone ball.
The Bearcats are now off for final exam/holiday break and will next play on Thursday, December 29th at Yeshiva University with tip scheduled for 8:00 PM.
