BROOKLYN, N.Y. — After earning a spot in the starting lineup and leading the team in scoring on the week, freshman Dimitri Sirakis has been named the Skyline Conference Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week for the week ending December 4, the league office announced earlier.

Sirakis averaged 14.0 points per game and shot an efficient 10-of-18 (.558) from the floor and 7-of-12 from behind the arc (.583) to earn the second straight Rookie of the Week honor by a Bear following teammate Stephane Etheart.

In his first collegiate start vs. Farmingdale State on Thursday, the guard from Hollis Hills, N.Y. netted 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting with three trifectas and an assist and steal. He followed that up with a 16-point effort on 6-of-12 shooting with a season-high seven boards on the road at Old Westbury on Saturday. In addition to draining four triples, the St. Francis Prep product also dished out three assists and swiped one steal.

Sirakis and the Bears (1-5, 0-2) return to the hardwood tomorrow, December 6 with a Skyline Conference matchup at Yeshiva University (4-3, 2-0). Tip-off is slated for 8 p.m. at the Max Stern Athletic Center with live stats and video available on SJCBears.com.
