MARIETTA, Ohio — In a span of just four days, the No. 17-ranked Marietta College Men's Basketball team laid waste to its second Top-10 opponent as the Pioneers crushed the College of Wooster, ranked seventh nationally, by the score of 99-70 Wednesday (Nov. 23) evening. This follows MC's 24-point win over No. 2 Christopher Newport on Saturday.

Marietta (4-0 overall) scored the first seven points of the game and never trailed. Wooster (2-1) got a layup from Dan Fanelly at the 8:52 mark to make it a four-point game, 24-20.

The Pioneers used a 12-2 run over the next four minutes to extend the margin to 12 points, 36-24. Marietta then closed the first half on a 12-3 run and took a 51-29 advantage into halftime.

Kyle Dixon poured in 16 first half points as the Pioneers shot a blistering 57.6% from the floor and 71.4% from three-point range in the opening period. Dixon finished with 22 points connecting on four treys in the game.

Wooster could only get within 16 points in the second half. A layup from Spencer Williams made it 66-50 with 11:52 left in the game. But Marietta's three-point barrage continued as the Pioneers sank seven after halftime and 12 total for the game. A three-ball from Dixon with 4:42 remaining pushed the margin to 32 points, 90-58.

While the Pioneers were on fire from downtown, Wooster struggled all night hitting just 1-of-14 from behind the arc. The Scots also turned the ball over 14 times against Marietta's stifling defense resulting in 29 MC points.

Young equaled Dixon with 22 points in the game to lead the Pioneers. He scored 13 of his points in the second half nailing three shots from long range after halftime. Young tallied four three-pointers on the night and dished out a game-high five assists.

A.J. Edwards just missed his second double-double of the season chipping in with 19 points and nine rebounds. He also blocked three Wooster shots. Keith Richardson came off the bench to score nine points.

Fanelly led the Fighting Scots with 20 points. Williams finished with 17 points, while Alex Baptiste had 11 points, seven boards and four blocked shots.

For the game, Marietta shot 53.1% (34-of-64) from the floor, 66.7% (12-of-18) from three-point range and 65.5% (19-of-29) at the free throw line. Wooster was 26-of-60 (43.3%) from the floor, 1-of-14 (7.1%) behind the arc and 17-of-23 (73.9%) at the line.

The Pioneers had a 39-33 edge on the glass. Marietta committed just nine turnovers in the game, while forcing 14 Wooster turnovers.

Marietta is back in action on Sunday (Nov. 27) when the Pioneers host Bethany College at 7 p.m.
