Pipers Explode Past North Central

More news about: Hamline

On a cold, damp night, the Hamline men's basketball team had a very hot hand. The Pipers shot 52.5 per cent from the field and broke away in the second half to defeat North Central (Minn.), 83-57, Tuesday night at Hutton Arena. Isaac Brooks scored 16 points and Dylan See-Rockers and TC Robinson added 14 each to help Hamline improve to 3-1 on the season. Brooks, a sophomore, also had a big night on the boards with a game high nine rebounds while See-Rockers added eight.

HU trailed only once at 8-7. They responded to that deficit with nine unanswered points and kept after the Rams the rest of the half, going to the locker room with a 38-26 edge.

NCU crept back into the game in the second game, getting within 10 points at 51-41 with 10:20 remaining. Hamline unleashed another run -- this one by an 8-1 margin -- to lead 59-42 and put the game out of reach.

Head coach Jim Hayes cleared his bench in the latter stages with 17 players seeing court time. Travis Voigt scored 19 points for North Central (1-3).

The Pipers now turn their sights on the MIAC race. They have eight days to prep for their conference opener on Wednesday, November 30 against Augsburg at Hutton Arena. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
