BSC Panthers Improve to 2-0 at Home, Win 72-65 over Wabash

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –  The Birmingham-Southern men's basketball team improved to 2-1 overall after a 72-65 win against Wabash College Sunday afternoon to close out the 2016 Black Tie Classic in Bill Battle Coliseum. 

 

The game was a back-and-forth battle with four ties and three lead changes.  No one led by more than eight points until late in the contest. 

 

Four Panthers finished in double-figures, led by Ian Thom (Cold Spring, N.Y./Croton-Harmon HS) who earned a game-high 15 points, going 7-for-11, with a game-high five assists. Evan Lewis (Birmingham, Ala./Ramsay HS) was right behind him at 14 points with a game-high seven rebounds.

 

Matty Rudak (Augustów, Poland / Millbrook School (NY)) and Harrison Deneka (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) finished with 13 and 12 points, respectively.  Both grabbed six rebounds on the day.

 

The Panthers remain at home for their next game, facing Covenant College this coming Tuesday, Nov. 22 at 7:30 p.m.  Their game is a doubleheader with the women's team.  The women take on Louisiana College at 6 p.m. with the men following immediately afterward.
