GETTYSBURG (PA) – Senior Tyliek Kimbrough scored a career-high 27 points while junior transfer came off the bench to add 21 points in his first game in a Delaware Valley University uniform as the Aggies notched 69-62 victory over host Gettysburg College in the opening round of the Bullets' Tip-Off Tournament.

The victory improved DelVal to 2-0 on the young season as the defending Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom champions advanced to Saturday's title game (4 p.m.) where they will face the winner of the Alvernia University-Wittenburg College match-up.

Kimbrough, a second-team all-conference honoree last season, connected on seven of 12 shots from the field and was 13-for-15 from the foul line. He also added five rebounds and five assists. Meanwhile, Brown, who missed the season opener, gave the Aggies a big boost of the bench. He was 6-for-15 from the field (3-for-4 from 3-point land) and 6-for-8 from the charity stripe in just 19 minutes of action.

The DelVal tandem scored 12 of the team's final 13 points after the game was tied at 56-56 on a trey by Gettysburg's Nick Lord with 5:21 remaining. Seven seconds later, Brown hit from downtown to regain the lead for the Aggies. He then hit another trey with 4:40 to go for a six-point lead.

The Bullets notched four points from the free throw line over the next two minutes to make it a 62-60 ballgame. Gettysburg (0-2) then had two chances to tie or take the lead, but turned it over each time. Following the second miscue, Brown got inside for a tough basket with 53 ticks remaining. Kimbrough grabbed a defensive rebound on the Bullets' next possession and was fouled. He hit both free throws on that trip and did so again with 25 seconds left to put the contest away.

DelVal never trailed for the second straight game. It built its lead to as many as 11 in the opening half and took a 32-24 advantage into the break. The margin peaked at eight in the second stanza before Gettysburg tied it up for the only time in the contest with more than five minutes remaining. However, Brown and Kimbrough responded for the Aggies to give the team a shot at the tournament championship.

DelVal was 22-for-28 from the foul line, compared to a 16-for-25 effort by the Bullets. The Aggies also forced 24 turnovers and turned them into 20 points. Tyrea Williams finished with 12 points on 6-for-7 shooting and the senior also grabbed seven rebounds before fouling out.

Tanner Kirkpatrick paced Gettysburg with 22 points and nine rebounds. Pete Christ added 19 points in the loss.
