R-N's McDaniel, Snow Named ECAC Metro All-Stars

DANBURY, Conn. (March 23, 2016) – Senior forward Jordan McDaniel and senior guard John Snow were named 2016 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Metro Men's Basketball All-Stars, it was announced Tuesday afternoon.

 

McDaniel was named first-team All-ECAC, while Snow was a second-team All-Star as a total of 10 players from the Metro region earned honors.

 

McDaniel was the only New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) student-athlete to make first-team All-ECAC, with Snow joining three other NJAC players on the second-team.

 

A Colonia, N.J. native, McDaniel led the Scarlet Raiders in scoring (21.4 points per game), rebounding (6.9 rebounds per game) and blocked shots (30), sitting top-three on the team in steals (27) and assists (1.4 per game) as well. He was No. 1 in the NJAC in scoring and was fifth in field-goal percentage, converting at an amazingly efficient 53 percent clip for the season. The Colonia native recorded 600 points on just 381 total field-goal attempts, ranking third in the league in blocked shots, second in minutes and fifth in rebounding.

 

After scoring 44 points and grabbing 10 rebounds in his team's double overtime win at Ramapo College in the regular-season finale, McDaniel was named the Met Basketball Writers Association Player of the Week and was named to the D3hoops.com National Team of the Week. McDaniel averaged 21.5 points on 55.9 percent shooting in 18 conference contests this year, shooting 40.5 percent from deep in the NJAC. He also averaged 22.3 points in three postseason outings.

 

The veteran graduates from the Rutgers-Newark men's basketball program with 1,284 points in three seasons, adding 460 rebounds, 83 assists, 78 blocked shots and 59 steals.

 

In addition to his first-team All-ECAC nod, McDaniel was a first-team National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-American and the Atlantic District Player of the Year. He was the NJAC Player of the Year, a third-team D3hoops.com All-American and first-team D3hoops.com All-Region performer. The forward was also the first-ever Scarlet Raider to be selected to play in the Reese's NABC Division III Senior All-Star game.

 

Snow earns his second All-ECAC honor after picking up second-team All-NJAC honors earlier this season. The Newark native averaged 18.6 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game, adding 37 steals and seven blocked shots to his line.

 

The guard was fifth in the conference in scoring, 12th in rebounding, 12th in field-goal percentage (45.4 percent), 14th in assists and fourth in minutes (34.3 per game).

 

He twice was named the NJAC Player of the Week and was honored as the Met Basketball Writers Association Player of the Week after scoring a remarkable 42 points in an NJAC road win at Rowan University on January 16.

 

Snow scored 30 points in three separate NJAC road wins for the Scarlet Raiders this season - December 5 at The College of New Jersey, January 27 at Montclair State University and February 17 at Ramapo College. He posted 20-plus points in 10 outings, pouring in double figures in 24-of-27 contests and notching four double-doubles.

 

Snow graduates from the program with career totals of 1,184 points, 435 rebounds, 151 assists, 86 steals, 17 blocked shots and 67 three-pointers.
