The Grove City Wolverines scored on an alley-oop inbound pass with 0.6 seconds left on the clock to upset the Saint Vincent men's basketball team, 65-63 in the Carey Center on Senior Night.

Both teams shot poorly throughout the first half as Saint Vincent and Grove City maintained excellent off-ball defense. Austin Ford scored the first points of the night off of a JC Howard assist. The Wolverines answered immediately, and a long Jaylon Bell two made it 4-2 SVC with 18:26 left in the half. Howard extended the Bearcat lead, scoring on a fast break layup off of a Grove City turnover. The Wolverines drained a long three to respond but Howard replied with a three of his own to make it 9-5 Saint Vincent.

Senior Ben Klimchock made his way to the charity stripe as he was fouled while driving to the hoop. Klimchock nailed both from the line to grow the advantage to six. Grove City was able to score four straight before Klimchock netted a lengthy trey with 14:17 left in the half. Klimchock found his way to the line once again and he converted both shots giving Saint Vincent a 16-9 advantage.

The Wolverines put together two consecutive scoring possessions, before senior Pat Jones drove to the hoop and scored on a finger roll. Grove City nailed a three to tie it at 20, before Bell grabbed a rebound and sprinted the length of the court, scoring on a layup. Bell was fouled on the basket but couldn't convert on the free throw leaving the score 22-20 Saint Vincent. Jones made both of his attempts from the line with 5:31 left, followed by a Bell fast break basket and two free throws to send the Bearcats into the locker room with a slim 28-25 lead.

Bell netted 10 first half points while Klimchock added 7, shooting a perfect 4-4 from the free throw line. For the Wolverines, Joe Vermilya scored 10 points.

Grove City came out firing in the second, scoring on four out of their first five possessions. The Wolverines tied the game with a three out of the gate, taking the lead their next time around. A Ford free throw brought the game within one, 30-29, before GCC netted another pair of treys. The Bearcats continued to fight back, as senior Bobby Swartwout got fouled under the basket. Swartwout hit both from the line making the score 36-31 Grove City.

A Howard drive brought the game back within one possession, but Grove City answered back to regain a 5-point lead. Bell responded with aggressive defense, stealing the ball and driving all the way down the court for two. Jumpers from Klimchock and Bell would regain the Saint Vincent lead, making the score 41-40 with 12:22 left to play.

Howard grabbed a rebound and traveled across the floor to make it 45-44 Bearcats, before Grove City managed an 8-0 run, making the score 52-45 GCC. The Bearcats found themselves in foul trouble, making it difficult to gain back the advantage they once held. Klimchock continued to shoot well for Saint Vincent, draining another baseline jumper. Klimchock, however, registered his fifth foul of the night and was unable to return for the Bearcat offense.

With 5:38 left in the contest, Swartwout converted an and-one opportunity to bring the game within three. Grove City responded with a deep three but the Bearcats answered once again as Bell netted two from the line. Bell continued to connect for Saint Vincent, nailing a mid range shot followed by a finger roll to make it a 4-point game.

Swartwout drained two more from the charity stripe to make it 63-61 GCC and Saint Vincent was able to get the ball back for one final possession. Bell started at the top of the key, driving to the left and finishing above two Wolverine defenders to tie the contest up at 63-all with 4 seconds left.

The Wolverines moved the ball quickly into the front court, where it was knocked out of bounds by a Bearcat defender with 0.6 remaining on the clock. Stephen Tam inbounded the ball high into the air near the rim, where it was caught by teammate Andrew Beckman.  His tip-in off the alley-oop pass rolled around the rim and dropped as the buzzer sounded, sending Grove City to the win.

Bell led all scorers with 22 points while Klimchock and Jones added 11 a piece. Grove City had four players in double figures, with Vermilya leading the way netting 19.
