Center Valley, PA (February 13, 2016) – The DeSales University men's basketball team clinched a spot in the MAC Freedom postseason tournament with an 85-76 win over FDU-Florham in MAC Freedom action on Saturday afternoon in Billera Hall.

The Bulldogs (17-6, 9-3 MAC Freedom) stay one game ahead of Delaware Valley University for the top seed in the postseason tournament with two games to play this upcoming week.  One win assures DSU of at least one home playoff game, while two wins secures the top seed and home court advantage throughout the conference postseason.

Junior Kuity Slanger led the way in the win recording his fourth double-double of the season with 20 points and 11 rebounds along with five assists.  Sophomore Aaron Burton also played well scoring 18 points and grabbing six rebounds and senior Cody Deal finished with 15 points.  Junior Brian Laird added 14 points, including a 6-for-6 effort down the stretch from the free throw line to ice the win.

The Devils (4-19, 2-10 MAC Freedom) were led by Anthony Mitchell with 17 points, Tyler Christie with 16 points, and Donte Ali with 15 points and seven rebounds.

DSU was out of the gates quickly as Deal hit three straight 3's to start the game and Laird added another as the Bulldogs took a 14-0 lead over the first 2:59.  FDU slowly trimmed away at the deficit and eventually took a 31-26 lead with 5:09 to go in the first-half before the Bulldogs finished the half on an 18-4 run to take a 44-35 lead into the locker rooms.

The Bulldogs bench did most of the damage during the half-ending run as sophomore Shaundell Fishburne had six points and the bench totaled 10 of the 18 points.

DeSales never trailed in the second-half opening an 11 point lead twice early in the half but the Devils refused to go quietly.  Twice leading by seven points late FDU cut the margin to two points with 3:42 to go and three points with 2:18 left but a three-point play from Burton and two free throws from Slanger kept it a two-possession game each time and DSU was 8-for-8 from the charity stripe over the final minute of play to ice the victory.

DSU shot 43.9 percent for the game went 27-for-33 (81.8 percent) from the free throw line.  The Bulldogs also won the battle of the boards, 43-36, and held FDU to just 37.8 percent shooting for the game.
