Tomcats take down Saints, 80-66

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – The Thiel College men's basketball team extended its winning streak to five games after upending the Thomas More Saints 80-66 in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) matchup Saturday afternoon.

Khari Bess led the Tomcats with 25 points and six assists. Bess shot 11-of-17 from the field, grabbed seven rebounds and also stole the ball five times.

Along with Bess, three other Tomcats scored double figures. Luke Kochka scored 14 points, pulled down eight rebounds and dished out six assists. Clandell Cetoute recorded 11 points, six rebounds and five blocks while Leandra Jackson added 10 points.

Simon Clifford paced the Saints with 23 points.

The Tomcats held the lead the majority of the game. They took the lead 1:21 into the game and never looked back.  The Tomcats shot 58.2 percent (32-of-55) from the field, knocked down 14 free throws and added two three-pointers. 

With the win Thiel is now in a three-way tie for third place in the PAC standings with Grove City and Thomas More.

The Tomcats (11-10, 9-5 PAC) will look to keep their winning ways going when they take on the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets in PAC action on Wednesday, Jan. 10. The men's game will follow the women's game at 7:30 p.m. at the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse.
