KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Albion College Head Coach Jody May said his team played its best offensive game of the season in knocking off Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Kalamazoo College, 89-67, inside the Anderson Athletic Center.

Albion was a season-best 52 percent from the field, including 57 percent from 3-point range.

"We moved the ball, shared the ball," May said. "When they helped (defensively) we were able to find the open man."

Albion trailed 7-2 early but took control with an 18-0 run. Jaylin Fordham hit a pair of 3-point baskets and Jordan Herron knocked down a pair of jumpers during the spurt.

Albion led by as many as 23 points in the first half. The Britons enjoyed a 42-18 lead when Travell Oakes completed an old-fashioned three-point play.

Albion's 18-point halftime lead melted to 10 early in the second half as Tommy Cerven scored a pair of 3-point baskets for Kalamazoo.

Unlike previous games, however, Albion was able to keep scoring to hold off the Hornets.

Fordham scored on 7-of-10 attempts from 3-point range to finish with 27 points, a new career high for the first-year guard from Flint. It was his fourth 20-point game of the season.

Corey Wheeler produced 13 points off the bench and Dakota Kazen added 10.

Cerven led Kalamazoo with 20 points.

Albion stands alone in third place in the MIAA with a 6-4 record against league rivals. The Britons, 11-10 overall, will play their next three games at home, starting with a 8 p.m. Wednesday date with Adrian College.
