SEWANEE, Tenn. (Feb. 5, 2016) – For the second straight game, at least four Sewanee men's basketball starters scored in double figures as the Tigers fought their way to a 70-65 Southern Athletic Association (SAA) win over Millsaps, Friday, inside Juhan Gymnasium.

In front of a large crowd, Sewanee improved its overall record to 14-6. The Tigers remain in second place in the SAA standings at 7-2 and extended their conference home winning streak to 13 games. Additionally, Sewanee is 8-1 at home this season.

Freshman Cody Jones led Sewanee with a game-high 19 points. The Holly Pond, Ala., native has now scored in double figures in his past five games. Along with Jones, guard Clay Born finished with 15 points while Jacob McCullough added 10.

Senior Keshonn Carter finished with 11 points and four rebounds. Finally, despite not joining his fellow starters in double figures, junior forward Brody Stone added six points and a game-high 11 rebounds.

After a back-and-forth first half, Sewanee took control of the contest in the second half. The Tigers opened the final 20 minutes on a 6-0 run. Minutes later, Jones hit a corner three that opened a 17-10 run by the Tigers. During that stretch, Jones, Hunter Buescher, and Born all connected from outside.

Eventually, Sewanee took its largest lead of the game, 11 points, when Carter made a layup after a McCullough steal.

Millsaps managed to stay in the contest late behind a 46.4 second-half field-goal percentage.

Overall, Sewanee's offense also played well. The Tigers made 44.8 percent of their attempts. That included a 13-of-28 effort (46.4 percent) from beyond the three-point arc.

Forward Quinn Atkinson led Millsaps with 16 points and three rebounds.

Sewanee returns to action Sunday against conference unbeaten Birmingham-Southern. Tipoff is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
