WAYNE, N.J. – Senior guards Terik Bridgeman (Harlem, N.Y./Nia Prep) and Bright Mensah (Hackensack, N.J./Hackensack) each scored 26 points as the William Paterson men's basketball team (10-10, 5-8 NJAC) pulled away from Rutgers-Camden (2-17, 1-12 NJAC) for an 87-62 victory Feb. 1.
Bridgeman added 10 rebounds and four blocked shots, while Mensah chipped in three steals. Junior guard Joseph Taylor (Camden, N.J./Woodrow Wilson) finished with eight tallies.
The Pioneers opened up a 12-point lead by the 12:30 mark of the first half (27-15), and carried a 46-30 advantage into the locker room. Four points from Bridgeman quickly made it a 20-point margin in the second period (52-32, 17:25), and a 15-2 run put WP firmly in control at 77-48 with 5:53 to play.
The Pioneers used a 24-11 edge in turnovers to outscore the Scarlet Raptors 38-6 off the miscues.
Freshman guard Elijah Robles led Rutgers-Camden with 18 points. Sophomore forward Abby Bah had a double-double with 10 tallies and 13 rebounds.
William Paterson will host Montclair State Wednesday, Feb. 3, at 8:00 p.m.
