Tigers Struggle From Field in Loss at Chapman

ORANGE — Jay Miller scored 22 points and Joe Compagno added 11.

But the Occidental men's basketball team struggled from the field in a 65-53 loss at Chapman on Saturday.

The Tigers were just 15 of 53 for 28 percent shooting overall and 3 of 14 from the 3-point line.

Despite its shooting woes, Oxy was in the game, trailing just 28-24 at halftime. In the second half, Tyler Green got hot against Oxy's zone defense, hitting four 3-pointers for 13 points in the half to help the Panthers extend a double-digit lead.

Oxy's Andrew Johnson scored 10 points and led the game with 14 rebounds.

Cam Haslam led the Panthers with 22 points. 

Season Impact: The Tigers fall to 10-8 overall and 4-5 in SCIAC play.

Chapman improves to 13-4 and 7-2.

Next Game: The Tigers are back in action at Caltech on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
