GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- With all five starters in double figures, Gwynedd Mercy raced past Cabrini, 101-88, to notch their tenth CSAC victory and extend their win streak to seven games.

Julian Hyden and Arron Goodman each scored 18 points each for the second-straight game. Darnell Artis added 14 while Cedric Elleby (13) and Aaron Morgan (12) hit double digits. The Griffins would build a 10-point lead at the half and later stretch their advantage to as much as 20 with 5:12 left in the game before the Cavaliers pulled within 94-86 with just 1:44 on the clock. However a big play from Hyden down the stretch helped shift the momentum back in the Griffins' favor.

Tyheim Monroe posted 28 points and 18 rebounds, both game highs for Cabrini. Teammate Jair Green added 25 and Deryl Bagwell notched 18.

With the teams tied at 18-18 at the 10:48 mark of the first, GMercyU would go on a 17-7 run capped off with a big dunk from Hyden. Later a three pointer from Rip Engel pushed the lead to 12 with 3:51 before the half. Gwynedd would lead 50-40 at the break.

In the second, a quick 8-0 Griffin run early on turned a nine-point edge to a 74-57 lead after Brian Hennessey's three. The lead would grow to as much as 20 points five times throughout the stanza before the Cavaliers made it interesting. Elleby's layup would at the 5:12 mark be the only field goal over the next four-plus minutes. Green would connect on a jumper with 1:44 left to make an eight-point game.

After a Cabrini timeout, the Hyden and the Griffins would put the nail in the coffin with his big one-handed alley-oop jam to get the crowd up on its feet with just over a minute to restore a 10-point lead and suck the wind out the sails of the Cavaliers the rest of the way.

Hennessey and Engel each tallied nine points apiece. Artis would hand out seven dimes in the win.

The Griffins resume action on Saturday when they head up to Keystone to face the Giants in a CSAC matchup staring at 1 p.m.
