WASHINGTON – The Catholic University of America men's basketball team's prolific offense was on full display on Wednesday night inside the DuFour Center as the Cardinals shot 60-percent from the field to upset No. 12 Susquehanna, 101-80.

The Cardinals were locked in from the field, knocking down 13 3-pointers against the Crusaders, shooting 54-percent from long range. CUA used a 55-point second half to pull away from SU, putting up impressive marks from both the field (68.8%) and from distance (61.5) in the final 20 minutes.

Catholic limited its turnovers (eight) while ramping ups its defensive effort to come up with 12 steals against Susquehanna, leading to 16 points.

CUA led wire-to-wire and did so behind a strong performance from senior guard Bryson Fonville, who scored 32 points on 13-of-23 shooting. The senior All-American knocked down four triples and dished out seven assists.

Sophomore Jay Howard, who also received Preseason All-America honors this year, scored 22 points of his own on 8-of-11 shooting. Howard also went 6-of-7 from the charity stripe and added five rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Catholic led by as many as 16 in the first half, but a late surge by Susquehanna cut it to a six-point game at the break. The Crusaders were led in the contest by Josh Miller, who scored 23 points with three treys and eight rebounds.

The Cards quickly ballooned its lead back to 13 with a 15-8 run to start the second half. SU cut it back six with a 7-0 spurt of its own, but Catholic quickly answered after trading triples. CUA went on its second 15-point barrage while holding the Crusaders to only four points in the eight and half minute span.

It is the second time this season that Catholic has eclipsed 100 points, also scoring 101 in a win over Elizabethtown earlier this month.

Winners of 10 of their last 12, the Cardinals keep their homecourt this weekend on Hall of Fame Saturday, when they host Moravian at 2 p.m.
