The Lancaster Bible men's basketball team extended its winning streak to 15 on Tuesday night as the Chargers defeated Valley Forge, 100-75 in Phoenixville, Pa. The Chargers are now 15-0 this season, while Valley Forge dropped to 3-13. The 15-game winning streak this season (19 total dating back to last season) ties the program-record for most consecutive wins in one season as the Chargers also won 15 straight games during the regular season last year.

How it Happened: As has been the case for many games this season, Lancaster Bible began the game quickly and took an early 10-3 lead just 2:30 into the contest. Junior Bryce Williams scored Lancaster Bible's first five points of the game and senior CJ Dunston capped the early run with a bucket and free throw. Lancaster Bible extended its lead to 10 just 2:30 later as senior Dondre Perry threw down one of the many Charger dunks of the night.

Valley Forge fought back and trimmed its deficit to five at 21-16 with 10:39 to play in the opening half. Lancaster Bible flexed its muscles again and went on another scoring run midway through the first half as the Chargers outscored the Patriots 19-3 over the next 4:10 to take a 40-19 lead with 5:29 to play in the first half. The Chargers hit three 3-pointers during the run, including two more from Williams.

Lancaster Bible kept on scoring and eventually took a 57-33 lead into the half. The 50-point half was Lancaster Bible's 14th of the season.

Valley Forge opened the second half on a 10-2 run to close the gap to 16 at 59-43, but the Patriots would not get any closer as the Chargers matched with a 10-2 run of their own to restore their 24-point lead at 69-45. Dunston had six of the 10 points and the run was capped off by a layup from sophomore Herbie Brown. Lancaster Bible took its biggest lead of the game on its last made shot of the contest as junior Kurt Keltnerhit a 3-pointer to give the Chargers a 100-75 lead.

The Coach Says: "It was good to get a win by 25 in a very challenging place to play," Lancaster Bible Head Coach Zach Filzen said. "Valley Forge wants to get up and down and press and create some chaos, but I thought we did a good job of handling all of that in the first half. I thought we got after it on both ends of the floor in the first half, but didn't play very well in the second."

On the team's offense: "Having four guys with 20 or more points is pretty awesome and speaks to the fact that we have lots of players who can score on any night," Filzen said. "When we make the extra pass, we are hard to defend, but in the second half, we didn't do that as much and we committed a couple of dumb turnovers."

Other thoughts..."Overall I thought we played fairly well, but we still have things to work on and need to make sure we are playing together on both ends of the floor for a full 40 minutes," Filzen said.
