(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) – The Thomas More College men's basketball team defeated Chatham University, 83-58, tonight (Wednesday, January 20, 2016) in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
With the win, the Saints improve to 10-6 overall and 7-2 in the PAC. With the loss, the Cougars fall to 3-13 overall and 3-6 in the PAC.
Chatham took an early 5-4 lead when Alex Schoppen made a three-pointer with 17:24 to play in the first half. The Saints answered with a 30-17 run capped by a lay-up by junior forward/center Simon Clifford (Louisville, Ky./DuPont Manual) with 4:19 to play in the opening half to take a 34-22 lead. The Cougars closed out the half on an 8-2 run to cut the lead to 36-30 at halftime when Justin Baker made a three-pointer with 1:43 to play in the first half.
Thomas More opened the second half on a 40-18 run extend the lead to 76-48 with 4:25 to play in the game when sophomore guard Daniel Williams (Louisville, Ky./Jeffersontown) made a three-pointer. Chatham used a 10-3 run to cut the lead to 79-58 when Isaiah Brown made a three-pointer with 57-seconds to play in the game. The Saints scored the final four points of the game for the final score of 83-58.
The Saints were led in scoring by Williams, Clifford and freshman center Junior Stockwell (Florence, Ky./Boone County), who each scored 12 points. Freshman guard Brandon Horne (Louisville, Ky./Male) led the team on the boards with 10 rebounds and in assists with seven.
Thomas More returns to action on Saturday (January 23) when it travels to Waynesburg, Pennsylvania to play Waynesburg University at 3:30 p.m. inside the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse.
