Flannery Becomes Seventh Player In Program History To Surpass 1,500 Points 

With its third straight win, Babson is now 9-4 overall and 3-0 in league play, while WPI drops to 12-2 overall and 2-1 in the NEWMAC.

Flannery was 11-of-20 from the floor and 8-of-9 at the free throw line to go along with seven rebounds, five assists and three steals for the Beavers. Sophomore Bradley Jacks (Fort Washington, Md.) finished with 10 points, five boards and two assists, while juniors Sam Bohmiller (Franklin, Mass.) and David Stauffer (York, Pa.) both contributed 10 points and three rebounds.

Senior Clyde Niba (Atlanta, Ga.) scored a team-high 21 points, while sophomore Aaron Todd (York, Maine) added 12 points and six rebounds to lead the Engineers.

Flannery scored 17 of Babson's first 22 points, and after four ties and eight lead changes over the first 15 minutes the Green and White used an 11-3 run to take a 33-26 lead into the locker room. The teams traded hoops to open the second half before the Beavers ripped off a 14-0 run to build a 20-point advantage. Flannery scored six points, while Bohmiller and Stauffer each added four apiece during the spurt, which gave the visitors their biggest lead of the game at 52-32 with 13:15 remaining.

WPI cut its deficit to 55-46 on a hoop by senior Aaron Davis (Marshfield, Mass.) with 7:40 left, and got within in six on a triple by sophomore Chris Rodgers (Franklin, Mass.) at the 5:27 mark. Babson junior Matthew Droney (Canton, Mass.) converted a layup to make it 59-51 two possessions later, but the Engineers followed with a 13-2 run to take a 64-61 lead on back-to-back three-pointers by Niba with 51 seconds to play.

Flannery made two free throws with 32 seconds to go to get the Beavers within 64-63, and tied the game at 65 with seven seconds remaining after WPI junior Sean Doncaster (Medford, Mass.) went 1-of-2 at the line on the previous possession. Doncaster took the final shot of regulation but his pull-up three-pointer was off the mark forcing overtime.

The Green and White never trailed in the extra session, scoring on its first three possessions, including a pair of hoops by Jacks, to take a 71-67 lead at the 3:13 mark. The Engineers twice got within two and had a chance to take the lead following a turnover in the closing seconds, but Niba's pull-up three hit the back iron and was rebounded by Jacks, who calmly nailed two free throws with 2.9 seconds left to seal the win.

Both teams shot 44.8 percent on the night and knocked down seven three-point field goals, but the Beavers, who went 16-of-18 at the free throw line (88.9 percent), outscored WPI by 12 at the charity stripe.

Both teams return to action on Saturday as Babson travels to Wheaton at 3 p.m., while the Engineers visit Emerson at 2 p.m.

• Babson is 43-30 all-time against WPI and has won three of the last four meetings between the two teams.
• Flannery moved into sixth on the school's all-time scoring list with 1,526 points. He is just the seventh playing in program history to surpass 1,500 points and needs just five more free throws to become the Beavers' all-time leader.
• The Beavers are now 1-3 in overtime and 3-3 this season in games decided by five points or less. They are 12-4 over the last two years in games decided by five points or fewer.
• Babson is 8-0 this season when shooting at least 70 percent from the free throw line and 7-2 when outscoring its foes at the line.
