Hartford, Conn. – Senior captain Shay Ajayi (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and junior forward Ed Ogundeko (Brooklyn, N.Y.) scored 19 points each to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 92-63 victory over the visiting Elms College Blazers in men's basketball action on Ogrodnik Court in Oosting Gymnasium this evening.  Trinity improves to 8-4 and 4-0 at home, while Elms drops to 3-8 with its second setback in a row.  The Bantams, who have outscored four opponents by an average score of 83-60 in four home games this season, open New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) play against Williams in Oosting on Sunday at 3 p.m.

The game was never in doubt, as Trinity led, 49-33, at the half thanks to 11 points each by Ajayi and Ogundeko.  The pair each shot 8-for-12 from the field, while Ogundeko added 16 boards and two blocks and Ajayi grabbed six rebounds and blocked one shot.  In all, the Bantams more than doubled Elms' rebound total with 47 to just 22 for the Blazers.  Sophomore swingman Eric Gendron (Merrimack, N.H.) scored 16 points off the bench for Trinity, while junior Langdon Neal (Chicago, Ill.) grabbed six rebounds, and senior captain Andrew Hurd (Windsor, Conn.) dished nine assists to go with four rebounds.  Trinity hit the 90-point mark for the third time this winter.

Trinity led by as many as 16 points in the opening 10 minutes, 30-14, after an Ajayi layup, but the Blazers fought back and cut the deficit to 34-27 with under six minutes left on a three-pointer by sophomore guard Andre Wright (Danbury, Conn.).  Trinity immediately pushed its lead back into double digits on back-to-back buckets inside by Ogundeko and first-year forward Connor Merinder (Andover, Mass.), and cruised from there.  The Bantams led by as many as 33 points in the second half, shooting 55.2 percent from the field after halftime and 53 percent from the floor, 40 percent from long range (10-for-25) for the game, and 85.7 percent from the foul line for the game.  Senior guard Jerry Buchanon (Windsor, Conn.) led all scorers with 26 points and added six boards and five assists, while Wright finished with 11 points for Elms.
