Plattsburgh, N.Y. - The visiting Trinity College Bantams dropped a 81-73 decision agaonst the SUNY Plattsburgh Cardinals in men's basketball action this evening at Memorial Hall.  Trinity falls to 7-4 with its first loss in four games, while the Cardinals improve to 7-2 with their third win in a row.

After Trinity jumped out to a 6-0 advantage, Edward Correa scored six straight points in a 30-second span to even things up. The Bantams gained the momentum right back after an Andrew Hurd (Windsor, Conn.) three and made baskets from senior captain Shay Ajayi (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and sophomore Eric Gendron (Merrimack, N.H.). Down by nine with just over six minutes left in the opening stanza, the Bantams turned in a 10-0 run over three and a half minutes to take a one-point lead. The two teams were even the rest of the half and Trinity held a two-point lead at halftime after a buzzer beater by Ajayi. 

The second half began much like how the first one ended, and the teams were within a possession of tying each other for the first four minutes. A thunderous dunk from Ajayi gave the Bantams a six-point lead five minutes into the second, and for the next eight minutes, Trinity continued to hold a short lead. With the Bantams leading by four with seven minutes left, both teams went cold and didn't score for nearly two minutes. The Cardinals took a one-point lead on a Edward Correa triple with three minutes left. The two teams traded buckets before a Cardinal blocked shot and steal thwarted consecutive Trinity possessions and Plattsburgh State went ahead by five.  Bantam senior captain Jaquann Starks (Hartford, Conn.) made the score, 75-73, in the Cardinals' favor but a jumper by Xavier Thomas put the home team back up by four.  Trinity missed three treys down the stretch and Eli Bryant went 4-for-4 from the foul line for Plattsburgh State to preserve the victory.

Trinity was led on both sides of the court by junior frontcourt man Ed Ogundeko (Brooklyn, N.Y.), who finished with 19 points and a game-high 17 rebounds. The Bantams also got double-digit point efforts from Ajayi, senior captain Rick Naylor (Sudbury, Vt.), and Starks. Correa finished with a game-high 20 points on 7-of-17 shooting, including 4-of-11 from downtown. Trinity shot just 1-for-10 from beyond the arc in the second half.
