The Bearcat men's basketball team was tied with Westminster with less than one minute remaining in the game, but scored four late points to earn an 81-77 victory in the Carey Center to remain undefeated in Presidents' Athletic Conference play.

The Titans led 74-73 with just over two minutes remaining, but SVC's Bobby Swartwout scored off an assist by Jaylon Bell, his career-best 9th assist of the game, to take the lead with 2:05 on the clock.  With 1:12 to go, Swartwout added a pair of free throws, but Westminster's Brandon Domenick hit a three to tie the game with 56 seconds left.

At the 40 second mark, JC Howard hit a floater from the baseline for what would prove to be the game-winning basket.  Westminster had a chance to tie, but with 11.5 seconds left, a Titan shot was blocked by Swartwout and knocked out of bounds.  The Titans retained possession but had just two seconds left on the shot clock.  Their final attempt to score was blocked by Austin Dedert.  SVC took over possession, and Bell hit a pair of free throws to seal the win.

It was a fitting end to a game that featured eleven lead changes, most of which took place in the second half.

SVC held a small advantage through much of the first half, building the lead to five on a score by Swartwout at the end of the half that made it 43-38.

The lead grew to seven early in the second half (49-42) after a three by Pat Jones and a pair of shots from the charity stripe by Howard.  However, Westminster came back, eventually tying the game, 56-56, on back-to-back threes with just under 12 minutes left.

The visitors took their first lead just past the midway point of the half, 60-59, but Bell hit a three from the corner to quickly return the lead to the home side of the ledger.  From there, the teams traded blows over the next eight minutes, setting up the final two minutes of action.

Jones led all scorers on the day with 23 points, while Swartwout had a career-high 17.  Bell and Howard had 14 each.  For the Titans, Cameron Posgai tallied 15.

Swartwout had 7 rebounds for the Bearcars, while Dedert added six.  Deontay Scott had a game-high 9 for Westminster.

With the win, SVC improves to 8-3 overall, 4-0 in the PAC. Westminster is now 2-9 overall, 2-2 in the conference.
