Hartford, Conn. - Five Bantams finished with double-digit points as the Trinity College men's basketball team used a second half explosion to run away with a 78-64 victory to win the Trinity Holiday Invitational Tournament Championship. The Bantams improve to 7-3 on the year while the Rams fall to 10-2 overall. 

The Bantams started the game with a 13-6 run, thanks largely in part to eight quick points from junior center Ed Ogundeko (Brooklyn, N.Y.) who finished the half with a team-high 14 points. The Rams chipped away at the seven point Trinity lead, tying the game at 15 with just under 10 minutes to play in the half, until senior guard Jaquann Starks (Hartford, Conn.) intercepted an errant Delaware Valley pass and raced down court where he found a streaking Ogundeko who slammed it home to give the Bantams back the lead with 9:30 to go in the half. Sophomore Eric Gendron (Merrimack, N.H.) finished the half with eight points on 4-5 shooting from the field while Zach Sly (St. Petersburg, Fla) paced the Rams with nine first half points. The teams headed to the locker rooms with the score 29-26 in favor of the home team. 

Delaware Valley started the second half on a 5-0 run thanks to three made free-throws from freshman Alex Matsinye (Randallstown, Md.) followed by a steal, drive, and lay-up from Matsinye. A bucket in the paint by Ogundeko ended the scoring drought for Trinity, however a technical foul called on senior Rick Naylor (Sudbury, Vt.) gave Delaware Valley a pair of free-throws to reclaim the lead, 33-31. A deep three-pointer by junior Chris Turnbull (Ridgewood, N.J.) followed by a gritty, old fashioned, three-point play by freshman Langdon Neal (Chicago, Ill.) put the Bantams back on top by four with momentum in favor of the home team. With the score 46-41, Trinity held the ball on offense as the shot clock was winding down. Starks drove down the middle of the lane and hit a running floater as the clock expired to put the Bantams up seven. On the very next possession, Trinity forced a Rams turnover as senior guard Andrew Hurd (Windsor, Conn.) raced down court and hit Starks in the corner who knocked down a three-pointer to open up a nine point Bantam lead with just over 10 minutes to go. 

Delaware Valley tried to chip into the lead but Trinity held strong, as the Bantams extended their lead to 13 thanks to a corner three by Gendron with 6:55 remaining in the game. Trinity saw their largest lead of the game with 2:45 remaining, up 74-54, and despite Delaware Valley's attempt at a comeback, the tournament hosts held on for the victory and hoisted the Championship hardware after the game. 

Ogundeko finished with 18 points and 13 rebounds, his second double-double in as many days, followed by 15 from Gendron, 14 from Starks, 14 from Turnbull, and 10 from Hurd. Delaware Valley was led by Matsinye who finished with 14 points and Sly who finished with 12 points. Senior Chris Moran (Whitehall, Pa.) finished with eight points and 10 rebounds and was named to the All-Tournament team thanks to his performance over the two days, as did Hurd and Ogundeko for the Bantams.
