The Baruch College Bearcats started the second half of their schedule on a positive note with a 74-66 non-conference home win over the Griffins of Gwynedd-Mercy University on Tuesday night in the ARC Arena.
The Bearcats finished the first half by scoring 14 of the final 18 points to lead 36-23 at the intermission.
During the second half, they led mostly by double-digits with the visiting Griffins getting no closer than seven points on three occasions.
Chimaechi Ekekeugborhad a big second half scoring 10 of his game-high 19 points to help pull away for the win. He also grabbed 12 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season.
Doyin Isaachad 15 points and Ethan Hamlett10 points to lead the team to their sixth win of the season.
Overall, the Bearcats shot 40 percent (23-for-58) from the field, while limiting the Griffins to 34 percent (23-for-67), which included 3-of-27 from three.
Paul Moore led the Griffins with 15 points and six rebounds.
The Bearcats will return to action on Sunday, January 3, with a 4 p.m. CUNYAC contest at Medgar Evers College in Brooklyn, New York.
