Oxy Falls at Pacific

More news about: Occidental

FORREST GROVE, Ore. — Jay Miller scored 24 points in 40 minutes played.

But the Occidental men's basketball team couldn't overcome a sluggish start in the second game of a road back-to-back in Oregon, falling at Pacific (Ore.) 70-56 on Sunday.

Season Impact: Oxy falls to 6-3 on the season and goes 0-2 during its Oregon road trip. The Tigers lost at Willamette on Saturday, 74-68.

Pacific (Ore.) improves to 7-3.

Miller was 10 of 16 from the field and made some tough guarded shots both on the perimeter and attacking the basket. He was 3 of 5 from the 3-point line, often bailing the Tigers out at the end of the shot clock.

Pacific's offense was clicking in the first half as it shot 52 percent from the field to jump out to a 38-29 lead.

Andrew Johnson chipped in 14 points and six rebounds for Oxy and Joe Compagno had seven points and three rebounds off of the bench.

Rafe King led the Boxers with 14 points and KC Harrison added 10.

Next Game: The Tigers return to action in 2016 at Redlands on Jan. 2 to open their SCIAC season. Oxy's next home game is Jan. 9 against Caltech.
