GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Behind 16 points and 10 rebounds, from senior Julian Hyden, Gwynedd Mercy posted a 77-69 CSAC victory over the Cyclones of Centenary College on Saturday afternoon. The Griffins, now 4-3 overall, remain undefeated in conference play with three consecutive conference victories.

The Griffins never trailed in the contest and would manage to build a double-digit first-half lead over the Cyclones. Following a three by Darnell Artis with 11:56 on the clock the Griffins went on a six-point run to hold an 11 point cushion, (26-15), but it wasn't long before Centenary would answer with a run of their own, capped by a three pointer by Kyle Smith, cutting the lead to three. Despite the close call, the Griffins would not relinquish the lead and pushed the tempo to go up by as many as 13 with 4:03 left on the first.

Aaron Morgan would reach double digits in the half, going 2-for-3 from behind the arc for 12 points.  Hyden and Artis, who was 4-for-4 from the floor, both chipped in nine each as the Griffins held a 45-35 lead heading into the break.

Off to a slow start in the second. Neither team was able to make a shot for nearly the first three minutes of play. The Cyclones would get as close as 51-46 midway in the stanza off a bucket from Miles McLeod. However, Centenary was unable to build the offensive momentum to close the gap. Hyden would put the game out of reach with a big three pointer with 8:32 left to restore a double-digit lead for the remainder of the game.

Artis would finish with a team-high 17 points. Aaron Morgan and Paul Moore also reached double figures with 16 and 12 respectively. Larry Jones III pulled down a team-best 11 boards.

MccLeod led the Cyclones (5-2, 2-1 CSAC) with a game-high 22 points. Two others reached double digits with Anthony Bailey chipping in 14 and Rashaan Spencer scoring in 10.

The Griffins are off to sunny Miami, Florida over the holiday break to participate in the Under Armour Holiday Slam. GMercyU will face host Eastern University on Friday, December 18th at 7 p.m. before taking on Hartwick College on Saturday, December 19th at 6 p.m.
