FREDONIA, N.Y. – Twelve players reached the scoring column, led by Blair Estarfaa's (Buffalo/Maryvale) 13 points, as Cortland cruised to a 70-46 victory at Fredonia. The Red Dragons improved to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in the SUNYAC with the win.
Andrew McGuire (Congers/St. Joseph Regional (NJ)) made 3-of-5 from 3-point range and finished with 10 points. Carrel Joseph (Port-au-Prince, Haiti/Deer Park (NY)), Michael Kelly (Monroe/Burke Catholic) and Justin Cooper (Pine Plains/Stissing Mountain) each scored nine points. Kelly led the team with six rebounds, while Grequan Carter (Queens/Campus Magnet) and Joseph finished with five rebounds apiece.
John Kovach finished with eight points and 10 rebounds and Jared Fish scored eight points for Fredonia. Justin Tapper pulled down nine rebounds.
Cortland shot 58 percent in the first half, including 6-of-11 from the 3-point arc, and led 44-21 at halftime. The Red Dragons trailed once, at 3-2, before going on a 16-4 run to take an 18-7 lead with 12:29 left. The margin grew to 14 at 23-9 on a Kelly layup with 7:09 left in the half and never dropped into single digits the rest of the way.
Cortland will host Elmira on Wednesday, December 9, at 7:30 p.m. in a non-league matchup. The Red Dragons will be holding their second annual "Silent Night" Toys for Tots fundraiser during the women's and men's doubleheader that evening.
