Post Players Lead Comeback for No. 15 VWC

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Junior Kaelin Poe and sophomore Corey White, Jr. each posted a double-double Saturday as the No. 15 ranked Virginia Wesleyan College men's basketball team came back to defeat Washington and Lee University 65-52 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action.

Washington and Lee jumped out to a 24-15 lead midway through the first half as Darren Douglas connected for a three-pointer, resulting in the largest lead of the game for the Generals.

The Marlins charged back as Khalil Barnette and Nick Doyle connected for jumpers. W&L extended back out to a 30-21 advantage but the Marlins went on an 8-0 run on threes from Tim Jones and Keijon Honore and a pair of free throws by Poe.

Tied at the half, the first tie of the game, Poe and White, Jr. came out strong to put in early baskets in the final period. The defense locked in, holding the Generals to just 18 points and five made field goals in the final half to preserve the win.

Clayton Murtha had 11 points and 13 rebounds for Washington and Lee (4-3/1-1) while Roy McMillan added 10 points off the bench.

Poe finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds while White, Jr. added 12 points and 10 caroms. Khory Moore finished with five points and seven rebounds. 

No. 15 Virginia Wesleyan (5-2/2-0) host Christopher Newport University on Sunday, December 13 at 2 p.m.
