The No. 10 St. John Fisher College men's basketball team defeated Nazareth College 83-66 at home in the seventh place game of the Wendy's College Classic on Saturday.

The top-seeded Cardinals used 25-of-51 (48.1%) shooting as a team to pick up the win and improve to 4-2 overall while Nazareth dropped to 3-5 on the season following the loss.

Leading 5-4 just three minutes into the first half, Fisher managed to go on a 17-0 run, capped off by two consecutive Alex Sausville 3-pointers, to take a commanding 22-4 lead with 11:28 remaining in the half. Sausville would go on to shoot an impressive 8-for-10 from the floor in the contest, helping him tie for a game-high 19 points.

Nearly seven minutes after the big run, the Cardinals took their largest lead of the half at 25 points when Chaz Lott scored four consecutive points to put Fisher ahead 33-8. Lott finished the game with 13 points and a season-high nine assists.

The Golden Flyers made a bit of a push to close the half, outscoring the Cardinals 13-10 before intermission, but it was not enough as Fisher led 43-21 at the break.

In the second half, Nazareth found a way to slowly chip away at the Cardinal lead and eventually made it a 61-51 game in favor of Fisher with just 7:59 left in the contest.

That would be as close as the Golden Flyers would come however as the Cardinals sunk 11-of-16 free throw attempts down the stretch to help secure the 17-point victory.

Keegan Ryan had a strong performance for Fisher, tying for a game-high 19 points to go along with a team-high nine rebounds.

Ryan Henderson contributed 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting while teammate Tyler English recorded nine points in the contest.

Fisher will return to the fold at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 13 when they hit the road to take on SUNY Oneonta.
