Beavers Sunk by Castleton's Hot Shooting

CASTLETON, Vt. – The University of Maine at Farmington men's basketball (0-5-, 0-2) could not generate enough offense to get past Castleton University (3-3, 2-0) with a 98-71 North Atlantic Conference loss on Friday night at Glenbrook Gymnasium. 

Nick Hilton (Wilton, Maine/Mt. Blue) shot 7-of-13 from the floor and scored a team-high 20 points to power the Beavers. Hilton also grabbed five rebounds and dished three assists. Eric Berry (Weld, Maine/Mt. Blue) tallied 12 points for UMF and Anfernee Dent (Jackson, Miss./Daegu) added 10 points and six rebounds off the bench.

Castleton's Rob Coloutti led all scorers with 26 points on 8-of-12 shooting and 6-of-10 from beyond the arc. The Spartans had four players register double figures with Tondi Mushandu following Coloutti with 15 points and charted a game-high 12 rebounds for the double-double.

The contest was neck-and-neck for the opening 13 minutes before the Spartans began to pull away late in the first half. Castleton used points in the paint and second chance points to its favor to stay undefeated in conference play.

UMaine-Farmington will try to even the weekend record at Green Mountain College on Saturday.
