Baruch Powers Past FDU-Florham (75-63)

The Baruch College Bearcats defeated the Devils of FDU-Florham, 75-63, in a non-conference contest on Sunday evening in Madison, New Jersey.

The visiting Bearcats set the tone early in the first half by shooting a torrid 58 percent (17-for-29), and used solid defense on the other end to limit the Red Devils to just 28 percent shooting (10-for-36) to build a comfortable 41-26 halftime advantage.   

They continued to control the action in the second half and held off a late rally by the Devils, who managed to cut the lead down to seven points (61-54) with 5:55 left.

The Bearcats responded with a pair of free throws by
Jack Shanahanand a layup by Doyin Isaacto build the advantage back up to 65-54. That was enough to hold on to the 12 point road victory against an opponent that competes in the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC).

Five players scored in double-figures led by
Raymond De La Cruzwith 15 points and Chimaechi Ekekeugborwith a double-double of 14 points, 16 rebounds and six assists.

Isaac had another solid game at point with 14 points and five assists, while
William Sixsmith(12 points) and Ethan Hamlett(10 points) each had career-highs this evening.

Ali Donte led the Devils with 15 points and six steals.

The Bearcats will return to action on Friday night as they begin their CUNYAC schedule uptown with an 8:30pm contest at rival Hunter College Hawks.
