SCHENECTADY, NY -- BJ Davis scored a game high 25 points and Joseph Kuo had 12 rebounds with 10 points to lead Wesleyan University to an 81-77 win over Union College in the final game of the 2015 Sig Makofski Classic at Union's Viniar Athletic Center Sunday. The Cardinals, who defeated Clarkson the day before, improved to 4-1 while the Dutchmen are 1-3.

Davis was named the tournament MVP and Kuo joined him on the all-tournament team. Union's Ryan Whelpley, who had a team high 12 rebounds with nine points, was named to the all-tourney team along with Clarkson's Conrad Zampier and Westfield State's Shane Pasquantonio.

PJ Reed scored 14 points and Rashid Epps and Harry Rafferty joined Kuo with 10 points each as all five Cardinal starters scored in double figures. Wesleyan shot 44% and made 48% of the three point attempts. They Cardinals had a slim 44-41 rebounding edge in the game.

Wade McNamara scored 17 points for a team high for the Dutchmen while Aaaron Gordon scored a career best 15 off the bench. Deshon Burgess added 11 including eight from his nine free throw attempts, and Whelpley and Kevin McNoble scored nine each. Union shot 36% and had seven steals.

Wesleyan had a 40-28 lead at halftime, and led by as many as 14 with 11:57 left. It was 57-46 after a Davis jumper with 10:21 left, but the Dutchmen went on a 11-2 run to pull to within two at 59-57 with 8:03 to play after a Whelpley layup. Union took the lead for the first time since a 1-0 lead very early in the first half. Gordon's three pointer made it 66-65 Union with 5:26 left in the second half. Later, with 4:10 to play, Gordon hit another three for a four point Union lead at 71-67. But the Cardinals went on a 7-0 run and led with 2:31 to go, 74-71 after a Davis basket. Union got as close as one with 1:59 left at 74-73, but Davis made eight consecutive free throws over the final 1:40 to seal the victory.

Union is at Williams on December 3 for a 7 p.m. tip while Wesleyan hosts MCLA December 2 at 7 p.m.
