BRUNSWICK, Maine—Sophomore Bradley Jacks (Fort Washington, Md.) poured in a career-high 30 points as 10th-ranked Babson College rallied from a 17-point second-half deficit to force overtime before falling to Bowdoin College, 88-84, in non-conference men's basketball action on Sunday afternoon at Morrell Gymnasium.
Babson, which had its 16-game road winning streak snapped, falls to 5-1 on the year, while Bowdoin is now 2-2 overall.
Jacks went 12-of-19 from the floor and added 10 rebounds to record the first double-double of his career. Junior Joey Flannery (Acton, Mass.) added 21 points, all in the second half and overtime, to go along with three boards, three assists and three steals for the Beavers. Classmate Isaiah Nelsen (North Andover, Mass.) finished with 18 points and 13 rebounds to post his third double-double of the season.
Senior Lucas Hausman (Westport, Conn.) poured in a game-high 33 points, while first-year Jack Simonds (Falmouth, Maine) added a career-best 29 points to lead the Polar Bears.
Despite making just four of its first 16 shots from the floor, the Green and White tied the game at 20 on a pair of free throws by junior Matthew Droney (Canton, Mass.) with 5:15 left in the opening half. Bowdoin responded with a 16-2 run that included three three-pointers from Simonds to take its biggest lead of the stanza at 36-22 with 1:00 left in the period. A hoop by first-yearTyler Colon (Palos Verdes Peninsula, Calif.) and a trifecta from junior Sam Bohmiller (Franklin, Mass.) helped the Beavers get within 36-27 at the break.
The Polar Bears took their biggest lead of the game at 51-34 on a bucket by Hausman with 14:54 remaining, and led by 15 midway through the second half before Babson mounted a furious rally. The Green and White used a 12-2 run to get within 61-56 at the 6:13 mark, and back-to-back hoops by Jacks on the heels of consecutive three-pointers from Flannery gave the Beavers a 68-67 lead with 3:40 to play.
Bowdoin went back in front 72-68 with 2:21 to go, but a jumper in the lane by Flannery and two free throws from Jacks tied the game with 12.2 seconds left. The Polar Bears missed a desperation three-point attempt as time expired to force overtime.
Babson, which never led in the extra session, tied the game at 78 on a pair of free throws by Nelsen with 1:55 remaining, but Simonds followed with a jumper and Hausman drained four straight free throws to put the Polar Bears up 84-78 with 40 seconds left. The Green and White was just 3-of-11 from the floor in overtime.
The Beavers shot just 40.2 percent (33-of-82) on the afternoon, but held a 54-32 edge on the glass and scored 24 second-chance points.
Babson returns to action on Saturday when it takes on Brandeis in the opening round of the New England Big 4 Challenge at Salem State, while Bowdoin visits Southern Maine on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.

• Sunday's loss was the first on the road for the Green and White since a 71-70 setback at Clark on January 29, 2014.
