WINCHESTER, Va. – In a game featuring 17 lead changes, William Peace emerged a four-point winner, 70-66, over the Elizabethtown College men's basketball team Saturday night in the BB&T Classic at Shenandoah University.

Elizabethtown led 37-36 at the half, but trailed for much of the second half before twice tying the game in the final 2:40.

Josh Eden knotted the game at 62 with 1:52 to play, but Chris Thomas nailed a 3-pointer with 1:13 remaining to put the Pacers (3-2) ahead for good in the first ever meeting between the two schools.

Tommy James made all seven shots he took and was 5-of-6 at the free throw line for a career-high 19 points. It was the second straight game in which James set a new career-high after scoring 15 in Tuesday's win over Wilkes. The senior from Mount Airy, Md., contributed seven rebounds as well, tying him for team-high honors with Matt Lane.

James was perfect from the floor and the charity stripe in the first half, going 4-for-4 in both areas to lead all players with 12 points.

The Blue Jays (1-5) looked like they might put William Peace down double-digits going to the half. Eleven unanswered points, finished off by a Matt Ziegler layup, put E-town ahead 37-28 with 2:33 to go.

Peace answered quickly, however, as Ryan Emfinger hit back-to-back threes and scored the Pacers' final eight points of the period to keep them within one at the break.

Emfinger was one of four Pacers in double figures at game's end with 11 points. Thomas had 18 points and 10 rebounds, Nate Strothers 14 points and Terry Rogers 10.

Elizabethtown juniors Eden and Matt Lapkowicz scored 12 points apiece. Jake Sweger totaled six points and six rebounds off the bench.

The Blue Jays will face either Shenandoah or Franciscan in the consolation game Sunday at 2 p.m.
