Garrison Plays Big as Oxy Wins Big

LOS ANGELES — Spencer Levy had another big night from beyond the 3-point line with five threes for a game-high 19 points, Andrew Garrison posted a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds and Jay Miller added 15 points as the Occidental men's basketball team won its third game in a row, beating West Coast Baptist 82-49 at Rush Gym on Tuesday.

Season Impact: Oxy improves to 3-1 overall with all of its wins coming by at least 13 points.

Levy, who was 8 of 13 from three in a win over Cal Miramar on Friday, went 5 of 10 from deep and also had three steals. Through four games he's shooting 50 percent from the three and averaging 19.3 points per game.

Garrison, Oxy's 6-foot-8 big man, had a good night rebouding, defending and passing out of the post, finishing with four assists and three blocks to go along with his double-double.

Miller scored in the mid range off of pull up jumpers. He went 7 of 12 on mostly unguardable, balanced shots from 15 feet and in.  

Andrew Johnson chipped in 11 points and nine rebounds for Oxy, but finished with seven turnovers. Oxy point guard Kory Hamane finished with a team-high five assists.

Caleb Skelly led West Coast Baptist with 17 points and Kaleb Finley added 11 points, seven rebounds and six assists.

The Tigers jumped on the Eagles early, extending a 47-18 halftime lead. By midway through the third quarter Oxy had cleared its bench. All 11 eligible players played at least 7 minutes for the Tigers.

Joe Compagno and Jeevin Sandhu led Oxy's bench effort with six rebounds and Greg Karapoulios scored six points.

Next Game: The Tigers are back in action on Sunday, facing Sarah Lawrence at home at 3 p.m.
