FARMINGTON, Maine – University of Maine at Farmington men's basketball (0-3) senior Nick Hilton (Wilton, Maine/Mt. Blue) notched a team-high 17 points in a 60-56 non-conference loss to Saint Joseph's College (2-1) on Monday night at Dearborn Gymnasium.
Hilton led the squad in the points' column and also grabbed five rebounds. Sean Murphy (Westbrook, Maine/Westbrook) had a solid game and nearly recorded a double-double with ten points and eight rebounds.
The game came down to the wire as UMF fought back from a 14-point deficit to narrow the gap to single digits in the final minutes. After Murphy nailed a long shot with 14 seconds remaining on the clock to bring the Beavers within three, St. Joe's made the first of two free throws to seal the deal.
UMaine-Farmington opens conference play on Monday, December 1 at Husson.
