In a top-25 showdown, the nationally-ranked St. John Fisher College men's basketball team cruised to an 82-68 win over Dickinson College on Saturday in the Hoopsville College Classic hosted by Stevenson University.
With the win, Fisher, ranked No. 22 in the the first D3hoops.com national poll, improves to 3-0 on the season, while No. 21 Dickinson falls to 1-2.
The Cardinals took an early five-point lead with just six minutes gone, and pushed its lead to 10 at 24-14 just five minutes later. Their momentum followed through the remainder of the first half as the Cardinals led by nine at the break.
Fisher kept its foot on the gas through the second half, with a layup from Keegan Ryan started a seven-point streak accompanied by a 3-pointer from Alex Sausville and two free throws from Tyler Farrell. A 3-pointer by Joe Marchione brought the Cardinals lead to 15 at 47-32, a lead that would hold for Fisher through the remainder of the game.
Fisher used a balanced offense with four players scoring in double digits, and three others putting points on the board.
It was a career-high night for three players. Tyler English led Fisher with a career-high 21 points, while Farrell (16 points, 8 rebounds and Marchione (8 points) also enjoyed career nights.
The Cardinals return to action on December 2nd when they will participate in the 50th Annual Wendy's College Classic. This season will be the final year for the largest and longest-running in-season tournament in all of college basketball.
