Rosemont, PA (November 17, 2015) – Senior Cody Deal scored a game-high 36 points leading the DeSales University men's basketball team to a 79-69 win over Rosemont College giving head coach Scott Coval his 400^th career win on Tuesday evening.

Coval joins women's basketball coach Fred Richter and baseball coach Tim Neiman as the only three coaches in DeSales athletics history with 400 career wins among all sports.  Coval is now 400-203 in his career.  He entered the season ranked 39^th among all NCAA Division III active coaches in victories and 43^rd in winning percentage.

Lost in the milestone was Deal's performance on Tuesday evening as he poured in 36 points, just one shy of his career-high of 37 set last season in a road win at Wilkes University.  Deal was 14-for-17 from the field, hitting seven three-pointers added six rebounds.

Junior Kuity Slanger added 14 points, seven rebounds, and five assists, sophomore Aaron Burton had eight points and a career-high 15 rebounds, and junior Ryan Callahan added eight points in the win.

Rosemont was led by Marcus Thomas with 26 points and Clayton Wolfe with 13 points.

DSU jumped out early on the Ravens (1-1) taking a 12-3 lead thanks to eight points from Deal.  RC closed the gap to as little as three points three times before DeSales (2-0) settled for a 37-33 lead at the break.  Deal had 15 of his 36 in the opening half.

Rosemont took its first lead scoring the first five points of the second-half to lead 38-37 before Deal immediately answered with a three giving DSU the lead back.

The game went back and forth over the next several minutes as the Bulldogs held a 57-56 lead with 7:59 left to play.  Deal pushed the advantage up to four points with a three at 7:07 as part of a 7-0 run that gave the Bulldogs a 63-56 lead.

The Ravens cut the margin down to three points (63-60) with 5:02 to go before a quick 7-0 run pushed the DeSales lead up to 10 points (70-60) with 3:20 remaining and the Bulldogs never looked back from there.

The Bulldogs dominated the glass out-rebounding Rosemont, 49-32, leading to 12 second chance points in the win.  Rosemont stayed in the game hitting 10 three-pointers in the loss. 

DeSales is back in action on Friday taking on St. John Fisher College in the Hoopsville National Invitational Classic at Stevenson University at 2:00 pm.
