CARLISLE, Pa. – The Cabrini men's basketball team turned up its defensive pressure in the final minutes of tonight's season opener to score an 87-82 victory at No. 21 Dickinson College.

The Cavaliers shot 50.7% from the field, including 5-11 from three point range, as four players scored at least 16 points.  Freshman Ivan Robinson led the Blue and White with a career high 25 points on 10-12 shooting, to go with three steals.

Sophomore Tyheim Monroe notched a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds, while classmate Jair Green added 20 points and eight boards.  Sophomore Deryl Bagwell tallied 16 points after missing all of the 2014-15 season.

Robinson hit the season's first bucket, sending Cabrini on an 18-4 run to open the game.  The Cavaliers maintained a comfortable lead throughout the first half, as Robinson and Bagwell combined for 28 of the club's 41 points.

The Blue and White shot 50% from the field in the opening 20 minutes and committed just five turnovers.  Cabrini also forced 12 Red Devils' miscues, leading to 14 Cavaliers' points.

Cabrini continued its solid play into the second half, as its lead grew to 63-44 on a Green three pointer with just under 14 minutes to play.

The Cavaliers seemed to be cruising to victory, holding a 73-54 lead with just over eight minutes to pay, but Dickinson had an answer.  The Red Devils used a 24-5 run to even the score at 78 with 2:35 to play.

A pair of Monroe free throws put the Cavaliers ahead before Justin Melton's lay-up evened the score for the third time in the game.  On Cabrini's next possession, Monroe corralled one of his five offensive rebounds and completed the lay-up to give the Blue and White the lead.

On Dickinson's ensuing possession, Robinson blocked a Red Devils' field goal attempt to help maintain the lead.  The Cavaliers connected on 5-8 free throw attempts in the final 30 seconds, while holding Dickinson to just two missed field goal attempts in the last 86 seconds of play.

Ted Hinnekamp led Dickinson (0-1) with 21 points and 10 rebounds, while Jule Brown paired 16 points and five boards. Melton finished with 14 points and seven rebounds.

The Cavaliers will return to action on Tuesday, as they make the short trip to Eastern (0-1) for the renewal of the Battle for Eagle Road. Tip is scheduled for 8 p.m.
