GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy moved on in the 2015 CSAC Tournament as the fourth-seeded Griffins took down fifth-seeded Rosemont, 83-66, in a first-round game Saturday at the Griffin Complex.

With the win, Gwynedd (17-9) advance to face top-seeded Cabrini on Tuesday in semifinal action beginning at 7 p.m.

Junior Darnell Artis led all scorers with 25 points and added eight assists. Brian Hennessey hit four of his five three-pointers as the Griffins opened up a one-point halftime lead into double figures midway in the second.

Dom Scafidi had 15 points, 12 rebounds, and four steals for Rosemont, who ends their season at 13-13. Marcus Thomas also registered 15.

Artis would score 20 of his 25 points in the first as no team led by more than five points. Both teams shot over 40% from the floor.

Hennessey's trey early in the second put the Griffins up for good, igniting a 14-3 run which upped the lead to 55-45. Scafidi's trifecta from top of the key made it a seven-point edge, but Hennessey responded with a three on the next possession.

Scafidi's three-point play would give the Ravens one last push to get within 66-57 with just over four minutes to go. Again, the Griffins were able to counter with a big triple from Artis to restore the double-digit lead.

Junior Julian Hyden who would score 16 of his 18 points in the second, went a perfect 12-for-12 from the free throw line down the stretch. He also was a rebound shy of a double-double. Cedric Elleby was the fourth Griffin in double figures, finishing with 11 points and seven caroms.

As a team, the Griffins shot a season-best 30-for-33 (91%) at the stripe. Overall, the team was 22-for-44 from the floor, while hitting nine triples. The Ravens were just 28% in the second half en route to a 33% effort on the day.

Gwynedd Mercy will be searching for their first win at Cabrini since the 2007-08 season.
