Yeshiva University - 75, Farmingdale State - 56
New York, N.Y. - Senior guard Justin Bailey (Jamaica, N.Y.) scored a season-high 24 points for Farmingdale State in a 75-56 loss at Yeshiva University on Thursday night. The men's basketball team fell to 8-16 overall and 6-11 in the Skyline Conference.
The Rams jumped out to an early 10-5 lead but the Maccabees (13-10, 10-7) used an 18-4 run to go ahead 23-14 with 10:32 remaining.
After a Bailey layup cut the Farmingdale State deficit to 33-23, Yeshiva closed the half on an 11-2 run to take a 44-25 advantage into halftime.
Bailey led the way for the Rams with 10 first half points, while junior forward Shelby Rosenberg (Woodmere, N.Y.) pitched in with 13 points for the Maccabees.
Farmingdale State started the second half with 12 straight points to quickly pull within eight, 45-37.
Leading 49-39 with 12:54 left on the clock, Yeshiva used a Rosenberg layup and Benjy Ritholtz (West Hempstead, N.Y.) 3-pointer to open up a 15-point lead.
Down the stretch, Yeshiva led by as many as 21 points en route to the 75-56 victory.
Bailey scored his 24 points on 12-of-22 shooting, while junior forward Anthony Lanieri (Lake Grove, N.Y.) tallied 10 points. Sophomore forward Weldon Irvine (Queens, N.Y.) finished with five points and a game-high 12 rebounds.
The Maccabees were led by Rosenberg's double-double of 22 points and 10 boards, while junior guard Yisrael Feld (Teaneck, N.J.) added 18 points and five rebounds.
The Rams and Yeshiva will square off again at Farmingdale State on Sunday, February 22nd at 1:00 p.m. Sunday is senior day at Farmingdale State as Bailey will wrap up his four-year career as a member of the Rams.
