WENHAM, Mass. -- Gordon College out-scored the University of New England by a 15-6 margin over the final 6:03 to come away with a 59-51 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's basketball victory on Wednesday evening (Feb. 11) at the Bennett Center.

Earning a split in the season series, the Fighting Scots improve to 10-12 on the year and 7-8 in CCC games. The Nor'easters drop back to 6-16 overall and 4-11 in league outings.

Jaren Yang paced the hosts with 15 points, while Dylan Marshall contributed 12 and Dominic Paradis added 11 more. Hans Miersma finished with eight points, 12 boards, and six blocks. Gordon totaled a 45-30 advantage in the rebounding department.

For UNE, Devin Thompson tallied 20 points and five rebounds. Jean-Luc Parker chipped in with eight points.

After trading the initial four baskets (4-4), Thompson canned three treys to help the Nor'easters to a 14-4 cushion with 6:38 gone.

Big Blue was still up by seven (25-18) before a 10-0 spurt by the Fighting Scots swung the lead to Gordon. Three free throws from UNE in the final minutes of the period had things knotted at 28-28 entering the 2nd half.

GC went in front by six (38-32) until a deep connection from Thompson made it even at 41-all approaching the midway mark of the frame.

A pair of free throws by Parker gave the Nor'easters a 45-44 edge, but after more than a minute of scoreless action, Paradis drained a jumper to put the Fighting Scots ahead for good.

Another hoop by Paradis made it 50-47 with 4:13 left, and it wasn't until the 1:22 mark that Marshall nailed a three-pointer to double the margin. Yang converted 6-of-6 at the charity stripe in the closing 30 seconds to seal it.

UNE returns home to entertain Nichols College (14-1 CCC) on Saturday at 3 p.m.
